We did it! Today we took the last of our samples! It was very exciting, especially that we finished it during my shift so I was there for the last 3 stations. We have been cutting east across the Gulf of Alaska, around 56N, and things have been calm and wonderful out here in the Pacific the last week. While the weather has been foggy and chilly, today we were greeted with a beautiful sunrise, whales, and THE SIGHT OF LAND! Amazing- really made it hit home that we are almost finished.
It has been a long, busy day and now I embark on the challenge of summarizing some of our data, cleaning things up on the ship, packing all my gear, and getting myself back on a normal sleep schedule over the next 3 days. I have a couple other things I look forward to sharing with you all ( I got to deploy an ARGO float!) before I return back to land, but today you will just have to survive with some photos. Enjoy!
