Not everything is blue skies and sunshine out here (both literally and figuratively). While my experience has been amazing, there are obviously tough days. The weather has cooled and storms have increased. Air temperatures during the day hover around 50F and the winds were up to 25 knots. Needless to say I no longer spend evenings outside and I don’t do my workouts outdoors either. One night we were actually not allowed on the deck unless absolutely necessary- it was raining and windy and choppy. The weather definitely damped my spirits, along with some challenges in the lab. But this morning (8:30pm) I vowed to make today a better day and the weather cooperated with sunshine and the most gorgeous sapphire water I’ve ever seen.
This weekend we also dealt with some temperature swings on the ship. Our office, which I have already mentioned is chilly (around 64 degrees) began to drop in temperature and was hovering at 57 degrees for a couple days. This temperature is measured near the wall of computers and I swear where I sit it is at least 5 degress colder than that. Needless to say, we were FREEZING. The temperatures have now been corrected and we are enjoying a balmy office temperature of 70. No complaints.
